New Social Media Apps To Try

Remember when there were hardly any mobile apps available? Now there are new ones being uploaded by the dozens every single day. From games to professional tools, there is a lot to be excited about. But no industry moves in a more fascinating direction than social media apps.

Back in 2013 FSG listed most popular social media sites you should give a try to: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr… major sites that have released apps that are more thorough than mobile sites. Then you have your chat apps, like Snapchat, WhatsApp, and Secret, all of which have become wildly popular as privacy concerns take over the news.

And here are a few worth checking out:

Wanelo wanelo

Don’t try this app if you don’t want to end up a total shopping addict! Short for Want, Need, Love, Wanelo is a cool social shopping application that learns based on purchases searches, and interests.

It also has a feature that connects you to what friends might enjoy using the same process, narrowing down gift ideas and make holiday and birthday planning an absolute snap. You can also sell there, turning it into a full blown community.

Moment

This is more of a real-life social tool. It tracks how much time you or your family members/friends are spending on their phones.

You set up profiles and it monitors their engagement through apps, calls, texting, and more. You can set limits on how much you use your phone per day, and send alerts when you are going over that set time. It is a great reminder to unplug and pay attention to the world around you, socializing with people face to face.

Bebo

“What is this? Bebo isn’t new!” Alright, that is true. But it has been long since dead, and it is only recently that the site relaunched and gained a new audience.

Once the biggest name in social networking, it has a whole new look and feel. If you are sick of Facebook, or just looking for something new, this could be the perfect platform for you. It is nice to see them back!

Nudge   nudge

Calories eaten, workouts, steps taken, sleep cycles…plenty of us are obsessed with tracking our fitness and health stats. This app lets you connect them all into one place.

And it gives you a score! Think of your Nudge Score as the Klout score of good habits. Connect with friends and compare stats, while encouraging each other. Find new fitness buddies who share the same goals. Socialize your health!

Hyper

At first glance this seems like an instagram clone. But Hyper is so much more. You swipe through content and upvote it to the front page.

You have a smaller, more dedicated community with a smaller follower list, leading to more valuable engagement. Lately it has been developing its own trending hashtags. It is a great time to join.

Are there any more social media sites to check out in the comments? If so, please suggest them in the comments or tweet to @ViralMomTweets and you’ll be listed in the follow-up!
